PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent aeration into a high-pressure chamber by forming a low-pressure chamber to extend in a direction for separating from a valve opening, maintaining an upward grade from one end thereof opened in the outer surface of a cylinder head, without risk of entering of the air inside of the low-pressure chamber into the high-pressure chamber. SOLUTION: This lash adjuster A includes: a low-pressure chamber 11 formed inside a cylinder head 10; a body 16 fitted to the cylinder head 10; a housing space 18 formed inside the body 16 and opened in the top surface thereof; a valve opening 20 passing through a bottom surface wall of the body 16 to communicate the housing space 18 and one end of the low-pressure chamber 11 with each other; a plunger 21 housed inside the housing space 18 freely to move forward/backward; a high-pressure chamber 25 secured in a lower end of the housing space 18 in the state of being sealed by a lower bottom surface of the plunger 21; and a check valve 31 regulating flow of the operating fluid from the high-pressure chamber to the low-pressure chamber 25 and allowing operating fluid to flow from the low-pressure chamber 11 to the high-pressure chamber 25 through the valve opening 20.
