BASE PLATE OF SUSPENSION FOR DISK DEVICE, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the base plate of a suspension for a disk device which can reduce resistant force when a ball is inserted in a boss part and strongly fix the boss part to an actuator arm. SOLUTION: A cylindrical boss part 30 is formed by a press in the base plate 20 of the suspension for the disk device. A ball insertion hole 31 penetrating in the thickness direction of the base plate 20 is formed in the boss part 30. A chemical polishing treatment surface 50 is formed on the inner surface of the ball insertion hole 31 by subjecting the base plate 20 made of stainless steel to heat treatment and then to chemical polishing treatment. The boss part 30 is fixed to the actuator arm 8a by inserting the ball 65 larger than the inner diameter of the ball insertion hole 31 in the ball insertion hole 31 to widen the diameter of the boss part 30.
