A method and an apparatus for carrying Transport Stream (TS) are provided. The method includes: fetching TS packets continuously from TS to constitute one or more sampling units, and obtaining index information of the sampling units; writing the sampling units into the data portion of streaming media files, and generating the index portion of the streaming media files according to the index information. With the present invention, the TS can be encapsulated into the streaming media files, so that the TS data can be read by the standard streaming media file parsing program, which facilitates the multi-party interaction of the TS data in the streaming media field, and improves the utility of the TS in the streaming media field.
