PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recorder in which an area occupied by a cleaning mechanism is small also in a long head, and on which a cap mechanism can effectively act as well. SOLUTION: In the maintenance device which wipes the nozzle formation surface of an ink jet head, the tip of a blade 21 of the cleaning mechanism 20 contacts to the nozzle formation surface of a nozzle plate 12, whereby the nozzle formation surface is wiped thereon. The blade 21 is held by a holding part and moved along the nozzle formation surface. The whole nozzle formation surface is covered with a flexible cap 22 which keeps one end integrally formed with the blade 21, and the other end fixed to a cap fixing part 23, and which is thinner than the blade 21.
