PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation unit allowing reduction of a pitch of a locking position of an operation member as thoroughly as possible without causing increase of size of a detent mechanism. SOLUTION: The operation unit includes: the operation member made to be swingable around a swing axis according to artificial operation; and the detent mechanism for holding the operation member in a prescribed locking position around the swing axis. Each of a plurality of detent recessed parts formed in a detent plate to hold the operation member in the prescribed locking position around the swing axis is a non-penetration recessed part opened to an outer surface of the detent plate on a side facing to a detent ball and closed on a side opposite to the detent ball.
