PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous body of polylactic acid having comparatively small average pore diameter, continuous pores and thickness. SOLUTION: The porous body containing polylactic acid as a main component has continuous pores having 0.1 to 3.8μm average pore diameter, 0.1 to 3.8μm pore skeleton diameter and≥3 mm thickness. The porous body preferably has crystallinity. The porous body can be obtained by e.g. heating the polylactic acid and dissolving the resultant polylactic acid in a specified solvent to obtain a solution, cooling the solution to obtain a deposited body and immersing the deposited body in water. The specified solvent includes water, an organic solvent in which the polylactic acid is soluble and an organic solvent in which the polylactic acid is insoluble at a specified ratio.
