摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical system of an atomic oscillator which improves S/N ratio of a transmitted light by being equipped with a fluorescence shielding means on the emission side of a gas cell to prevent incidence of leakage light of fluorescence to a photodetector. SOLUTION: The optical system 60 of an atomic oscillator controls the oscillation frequency utilizing a double resonance method which utilizes a resonance light together with a microwave or a CPT (coherent population trapping) method which utilizes the quantum interference effect caused by two resonance lights, and utilizing the light absorption characteristics and includes a light source 1 that emits a resonance light 6; a polarizing plate 12 that polarizes the resonance light 6 to a predetermined vibration direction; a gas cell 2, which is located at the emission side of the light source 1, seals gaseous metal atoms therein, and makes the resonance light 6 pass through the metal atom gas; and a photodetector 4 as a light detection means for detecting the transmitted light 7, that has passed the gas cell 2.
