PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new catalyst component suitable for producing anα-olefin polymer or anα-olefin-(meth)acrylate copolymer having a few branches and crystallinity, and a method for producing anα-olefin polymer or anα-olefin-(meth) acrylate copolymer using the same. SOLUTION: The olefin polymerization catalyst component comprises a metal complex represented by specific formula (D) and a Lewis base. The method for producing anα-olefin polymer or anα-olefin-(meth)acrylate copolymer includes (co)polymerizing anα-olefin or anα-olefin and (meth)acrylate in the presence of the catalyst component.
