<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To early detect a failure of a component in a compressor and identify the failure at an early stage. <P>SOLUTION: A system 10 includes inter-stage sensors 18, 22 configured to detect a parameter in an interstage position which is between a plurality of stages of rotor blades of rotating machines 16, 20. The system 10 also includes a control device 14 configured to identify a failure in the rotating machines, at least partially on the basis of the detected interstage parameter. The control device 14 in the system 10 is configured to obtain the interstage pressure measurement 18 between the stages of the multistage compressor 16.
