PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a countermeasure when drinking water such as juice is dropped off in a cover slide structure for a shift lever device suitable for a vehicle having a constitution that a shift lever is speed-changed in a vehicle longitudinal direction and in a vehicle left/right direction. SOLUTION: The cover slide structure for the shift lever device includes: a first cover 21 having a left/right direction long hole 21b in which the shift lever 11 is movably penetrated in the vehicle left/right direction, assembled to the housing 12 slidably in a vehicle longitudinal direction and closing an opening 12a of a housing; and a second cover 22 having a part capable of being overlapped with the left/right direction long hole 21b, having a radial direction long hole 22b penetrated with the shift lever 11, rotatably assembled to the first cover 21 and closing the left/right direction long hole 21b. On the second cover 22, projections 22c, 22d for forming a predetermined clearance in a vertical direction are formed between the first cover 21 and it.
