PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of coating the inner surface of a pipe to obtain an inner surface coated pipe suitable for passing a corrosive liquid or a corrosive gas. SOLUTION: The method of coating the inner surface of the pipe includes: spray-coating the inner surface of the pipe with a coating liquid containing polysilazane and an organic solvent to form a polysilazane coating film; and converting the film into amorphous silica to form a coating film mainly containing amorphous silica. A pipe having low pipe line resistance and being durable against the corrosive liquid such as acids or alkalis or the corrosive gas such as SO2, NO2or H2S is obtained inexpensively.
