A capacitor comprises a capacitor element, a liquid electrolyte, a metal case shaped as a tube having a closed end, a metal terminal plate, and an aperture-sealing rubber element. The terminal plate has a main body section and a flange section that is provided so as to project from the outer circumferential surface of this main body section towards the case. The aperture-sealing rubber element makes contact with the flange section of the terminal plate and is interposed between the outer circumferential surface of the main body section of the terminal plate and the side face of the case, so as to seal the case. The aperture-sealing rubber element is compressed between the outer circumferential surface of the main body section of the terminal plate and the case, by performing necking processing of the case from the outside of the side face thereof. Also, a ring-shaped groove is provided at a location in the outer circumferential surface of the main body section of the terminal plate that is in contact with the aperture-sealing rubber element so that the aperture-sealing rubber element projects into this groove.
