<p>The fuel injector has a valve plate (1) and a throttle plate (2), which defines an intermediate valve chamber (4). The valve chamber stays in contact with a control chamber of a nozzle needle over an outlet throttle (11) running through the throttle plate and is connected with a high pressure contact line over a bypass (19). The bypass leads into the valve chamber. A valve element is provided at a shaft (20) of the valve bolt (5) for closing the bypass in the open position of the valve bolt.</p>
