PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mail operation apparatus with short range wireless communication function, which allows a cellular phone to properly transmit mail information about incoming e-mail received by the cellular phone from a communication network to an in-vehicle hands-free device while suppressing power consumption in both cellular phone and in-vehicle hands-free device. SOLUTION: The in-vehicle hands-free device 2 connects an HFP, immediately after a BT communication line is connected between the device 2 and the cellular phone 3, without connecting an MAP. If the cellular phone 3 having an incoming mail is compatible with the MAP, the MAP is connected to enable transfer of mail information from the cellular phone 3 by the data transfer function of the MAP, on receipt of mail from the communication network 19 to the cellular phone 3.
