PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystal oscillator for surface mounting, which applies to an existing IC chip which is integrated with a crystal segment to reduce a height dimension, and then is rich in the productivity. SOLUTION: In the crystal oscillator for surface mounting which contains an IC chip 2 and a crystal segment 3 which are face-opposed to each other and electrically, mechanically connected to each other to be integrated in a container body 1 having a circuit terminal 5 on an inner base, the crystal oscillator has such a structure that: the IC chip 2 has an IC terminal 7 only on a surface of an outer periphery of one main face; the crystal segment 3 has an outer periphery part as a thick part, and a central part having a small thickness as an oscillation area; repeating terminals 11 and 11' connected electrically by a feedthrough electrode 8 are provided on both main faces of the outer periphery part of the crystal segment 3; the IC terminal 7 of the IC chip 2 is electrically, mechanically connected to the repeating terminal 11 on one main face of the crystal segment 3; and the repeating terminal 11' on the other main face of the crystal segment 3 is electrically, mechanically connected to the circuit terminal 5 on the inner base.
