Disclosed is a technique for identifying the condition of a cell rapidly, conveniently and accurately. Specifically disclosed is a method for determining the condition of a cell, in which a sugar chain present on the surface of a cell to be determined or a sugar chain-containing sample that contains the sugar chain is measured under the conditions where the sugar chain or the sugar chain-containing sample remains bound to multiple types of lectins in a liquid phase, and the state of the cell is determined based on the quantity of the cell to be determined or the sugar chain-containing sample that is bound to each of the multiple types of lectins obtained by the measurement.
