摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave element having low-loss and wideband characteristics while a conventional general piezoelectric substrate is used with respect to a piezoelectric substrate and its cut orientation. SOLUTION: A surface acoustic wave element 1 has a finger 3 and bus bars 4 on a piezoelectric substrate 2 and has at least either an IDT (inter Digital Transducer) electrode 6 or reflector electrodes 7, wherein the bus bars 4 have an area 5 where film thickness gradually increases at the finer 3 side. Having the area 5 where the film thickness gradually increases can generate a mass distribution in the bus bars 4, the bus bars 4 can confine surface acoustic waves in a resonator, the amplitude strength of surface acoustic waves to be confined in the resonator can be gradually attenuated from the finger 3 toward the bus bars 4, thus, frequencies in which the surface acoustic wave element resonates can be widened, and therefore, the surface acoustic wave element 1 which has low-loss and wideband can be achieved.
