A linear actuator that has a linear actuator main-body (2), a case (3) for accommodating the linear actuator main-body (2), and oil (L) having insulating characteristic and filled up within the case (3) so as to soak a coil (44) of the linear actuator main-body (2). Such a composition enables the heat generated at the coil (44) to be radiated quickly to the oil (L), and transmitted to the case (3) intact. Since the oil (L) reaches the gaps of the coil (44) as a matter of course, heat can be discharged very efficiently. In such a way, a linear actuator capable of achieving compactness and weight-reduction can be provided, by improving the heat radiation characteristic thereof.
