PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a possibility of an erroneous operation of a recording medium of a new version in a drive of an old version. SOLUTION: Error correction-coded address information is recorded on a recording medium of a second version, and the address information is deformed to be recorded so as to disable address decoding in a reproducing device not compatible with the recording medium of the second version. On the recording medium of the second version, address decoding is inhibited in the non-compatible reproducing device (e.g., reproducing device manufactured to be compatible only with the recording medium of a first version). Namely, in the reproducing device not compatible with the recording medium of the second version, the state of address error correction inhibition is set to disable access (recording/reproducing is inhibited).
