PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that accurately detects glossiness. SOLUTION: After an electrostatic latent image formed on a photoreceptor drum 11 is developed by using a developer, the electrostatic latent image is transferred to a sheet S. The transferred developer image is fixed to the sheet S by heating and pressurizing by a fixing device 40. The quality of the developer image formed on the sheet S is inspected by a glossiness detecting device 50 provided in an inspection device 50A. In the inspection device 50A, the glossiness of the developer image fixed to the sheet S is measured by the glossiness detecting device 50, and the glossiness detecting device 50 is disposed in a position so that the glossiness of the developer image can be detected when the temperature becomes equal to or more than the crystallization temperature of wax contained in the developer.
