The invention provides micro RNAs hsa-miR-152, hsa-miR-155 and hsa-miR-497 which are associated with cardiovascular diseases. The invention also features compounds which bind to and/or activate or inhibit the expression of hsa-miR-152, hsa-miR-155 and hsa-miR-497 as well as pharmaceutical compositions comprising such compounds. The invention also provided the use of hsa-miR-152, hsa-miR-155 and hsa-miR-497 regulated genes as biomarkers or targets for cardiovascular diseases.
