When a current breaker is conductive, a current path runs between first (2) and second (4) connector elements. A disconnecting unit (8) disconnects the connector elements from each other electrically and moves the second connector element in a disconnecting direction along a length (X) in relation to the first connector element and away from it so as to disconnect a current's path. An independent claim is also included for a method for interrupting motor vehicle electrical supply wires, especially power wires or battery cables.
