PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wiping thread body for a mop and a mop, easily connecting a broomstick and a wiping thread body for a mop using a holder provided on the broomstick for the mop, and cleaning the wiping thread body for the mop without waste and efficiently as much as possible. SOLUTION: The wiping thread body L for a mop includes a first wiping thread group L1, a second wiping thread group L2 and a connecting part J connecting the bases of both wiping thread groups to each other extending in the lateral width W of each base. A core part P is located at the longitudinal central position in the connecting part J and located horizontally in the vertical central position, and symmetrical in the longitudinal direction and in the vertical direction in the horizontally spread state so that the first wiping thread group L1 and the second wiping thread group L2 are respectively located in the front and in the rear of the connecting part J.
