PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device, method, and program for lightening work of a user on the occasion of spot registration, and managing a large number of registration spots surely by automatically imparting category information appropriate concerning a spot which the user wants to register. SOLUTION: In a main CPU and its peripheral circuit 4, a category storage controller 26 and a spot registration part 27 are provided. The category storage controller 26 temporarily stores, in a DRAM 6, a category used for searching for a spot by a spot search part 22. When the spot search part 22 searches for the spot based on the category, the spot registration part 27 stores the category of the spot along with positional information on the spot, on a flash ROM 7 or in a registration spot list of an outboard recorder controller 14.
