PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which executes processing (trapping processing) of putting pixels of a plurality of color components one over another. SOLUTION: The tendency of printing deviation occurring during printing processing is predicted, and information for correcting the printing deviation is preliminarily generated for each area (correction area) which has the tendency to bring about printing deviation. A trapping determination processing part 22 uses a differential filter in a mask size corresponding to an amount of correction to be performed, to calculate edge amounts in a main scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction of each pixel with respect to each plane of input image data and determines whether each pixel of input image data should be subjected to trapping processing or not on the basis of calculated edge amounts. A trapping superposition processing part 23 performs trapping processing on the basis of the determination result of the trapping determination processing part 22. A local shift processing part 24 shifts pixel values of a plane to be corrected, in a correction direction by a correction amount, with respect to each correction area. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
