<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To widely open a recording paper transport path in a fixing unit, using a simple constitution. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a vertical transport path where recording paper is conveyed; a heat roller and a press roller which are disposed, while pinching the vertical transport path between them and whose outer peripheral surfaces come into contact with each other; a first support body which rotatably supports the heat roller and is fixed to the image forming apparatus; a second support body which rotatably supports the press roller, and is disposed in the image forming apparatus so that it can move in a direction approaching the first support body or separating from it; an elastic member which is disposed in between the first support body and the second support body, and whose elastic force has at least components orthogonal to the vertical transport path; and a holding member which can hold a positional relation between the first support body and the second support body, against the elastic force of the elastic member so as to hold contacting of the rollers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
