PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass ceramic composite material having a surface that is excellent in durability and on which a layer having a crystal phase of anatase titanium oxide and/or WO<SB>3</SB>is formed, and a method for manufacturing the glass ceramic composite material through a simple process without any complicated step. SOLUTION: The glass ceramic composite material has the layer comprising the crystal phase comprising one chosen from TiO<SB>2</SB>, WO<SB>3</SB>and solid solutions thereof formed on a glass substrate. The glass ceramic composite material is preferably manufactured by: placing a substance composing the crystal phase on the glass substrate having a deformation temperature of≤800°C; and heating and applying pressure so as to unify the same.
