PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underground water storage structure of excellent strength and durability leading rainwater or the like quickly to a water storage layer, forming no mud in the rainy weather or the like, reducing the degradation of a water storage function caused by sediment accumulation and suppressing the temperature rise of a ground surface layer in summer or the like. SOLUTION: The underground water storage structure 1 includes: a base course 3 laid on the ground 2 in a lower position than the surrounding ground surface 20; the water storage layer 4 formed on the base course 3; a plate-like water permeable member 5 arranged on the upper face of the water storage layer 4; a water permeable sheet 9 laid on the water permeable member 5; a water permeable base course layer 6 formed on the water permeable sheet 9; and a water permeable water-retaining layer 7 formed on the water permeable base course layer 6. The water storage layer 4 is formed by three-dimensionally arranging hollow structures 8b, 8c, 8d, etc. made of concrete and having a hexahedral outline.
