PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably improve the identification of chromosome and the precision of counting. SOLUTION: The probe having a function wherein the probe can react with a test chromosome and then dye at least one portion of the test chromosome is characterized by exhibiting a function wherein the numerical abnormality of the test chromosome can be detected by using a continuous DNA fragment having all of requirements consisting of (1) having complementarity to at least one portion of the test chromosome, (2) originated from a specific DNA domain existing the same kind of a chromosome as the test chromosome, (3) having a labeling substance attached thereto, and (4) 80,000 to 1,000,000 base pairs.
