The compressor has working chambers (10, 12) formed in an inner side of a cylinder (3) by a piston (4). Inlet and outlet valves (20, 22, 24, 26) are designed as slide valves with a slider. The slider is movable along front walls (1, 2) of the cylinder formed with one of inlet and outlet openings, such that a hole overlaps the openings in an opening position of the valves and closes the openings in a closed position of the valves. Cams act together with the slider over a plunger and a lever, such that the slider is pressed against force of a closing spring in its opening position.
