PURPOSE: A signal generator and a method thereof corresponding to a data transmission rate for increasing user convenience in a visible light communications system are provided to confirm a data transmission rate during data communication between visible light communication devices. CONSTITUTION: A data processing unit(320) determines a data transmission rate and presently received data size information. The data processing unit determines a visible ray output pattern based on mapping information. The data processing unit outputs a control signal in order to generate the visible light of the output pattern. A visible ray communications transmission unit(300) generates the visible light of the outputting pattern according to the control signal.
