<p>The device has a retention barrier (9) brought infront of a roll changer (10) between an unwinding roller (13) and an accessible free space (21). The roll changer lies opposite to a guiding side of a web (17), which is unwound by the unwinding roller. The barrier has a frame, which supports a retention surface. A drive element (3) is arranged with the barrier in a base-recess (7). A protective casing is arranged over the drive element.
