PURPOSE: A method for controlling a taxi fare payment system is provided to transmit program downloading and fare downloading corresponding to a taxi meter device through a payment terminal to control a fare payment process, thereby controlling the meter device. CONSTITUTION: A payment terminal transmits a meter model ID request command to a meter device(S210). The meter device transmits a response including a meter device ID field to the payment terminal(S220). The payment terminal transmits a meter device program downloading preparation command(S230). When a normal response to the meter device program downloading preparation command is received, the payment terminal transmits a meter device program(S240).
