<p>PURPOSE: A power transmission device for a water pump is provided to enable the power of an engine to be transferred to a water pump when the power, which has been applied to a field coil, is cut. CONSTITUTION: A power transmission device for a water pump comprises a field coil(136), a disc(122) and a pulley connecting member(140). The field coil is fixed to a housing(110), is located in a pulley(130) and generates attracting magnetic flux by the application of the power. The disc moves in the length direction of a rotating shaft(116) and rotates along with the rotating shaft. The disc comprises a protrusion(126). On the pulley connecting member, a plurality of interlocking members(150), which are selectively connected to the protrusion, are formed along the moving track of the protrusion. The disc receives the force toward the pulley connecting member by an elastic member(128), the protrusion is connected to the interlocking member and the disc and the pulley connecting member can rotate together. The field coil moves in a direction of separating the disc from the pulley connecting member by the application of the power.</p> |
