THERMAL CONTRACTION COMPENSATION FOR SUPERCONDUCTING AND CRYO-RESISTIVE CABLES

PURPOSE: A thermal contraction compensation for superconducting and cryo-resistive cables is provided to prevent the electric damage of an insulator by suppressing deformation of the device due to thermal contraction. CONSTITUTION: A compensation length of a cable is determined so that the cable is laid under stress-free. The cable is installed in a pipe so that a part of the cable is extended to outside. The compensated length is marked on the each end of the cable. The cable is forced inserted into the pipe under ambient installation temperature. The cable is maintained in the pipe to prevent the cable from being pushed out from the pipe.
