#CMT# #/CMT# The method involves operating a cylinder of an internal combustion engine for a preset time interval under an upper load and variable load conditions. The upper load in the cylinder is maintained by changing fuel feed in the cylinder, adjusting purging air flow in the cylinder and activating a discharge valve, where the purging air flow is adjusted by a turbo-charger and an inlet valve and/or inlet cross section.
