A machine for hobbing non-circular gears 2 comprises a circular pitch-wheel 1 driven by a worm 6 at a speed varied by axial-displacement of the worm, to maintain a uniform pitch of the teeth cut. The rotational speed of the worm 6 and of a cam 8 controlling the axial movement of the worm are determined by a main drivewheel 24. The hob 3 on a slide 4 is reciprocated according to the shape of the gear by an adjustable crank 17, whose motion is controlled by a cam 23 which moves a driving-worm 14 axially. The hob itself is rotated through change-gears 25-27. The work instead of the tool may be reciprocated. |
