PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium tantalate single crystal in which absorption in an ultraviolet region is suppressed, a wavelength conversion element and a wavelength conversion device. SOLUTION: In the lithium tantalate single crystal with a substantially stoichiometric composition to which Sc is added, Sc is added within a range of 4×10<SP>-1</SP>mol% or more and 8×10<SP>-1</SP>mol% or less to the lithium tantalate single crystal, and is for the wavelength conversion element which converts wavelength of incident light into wavelength in the ultraviolet region by utilizing polarization reversal structure.
