PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long life light emitting device capable of emitting bright red light, and to provide a reliable exposure head and image forming apparatus including the light emitting devices. SOLUTION: The light emitting device 74 includes a cathode 749, an anode 741, a first light emitting layer 744 disposed between the cathode 749 and the anode 741 and composed of a host material and a guest material of a red light emitting material, a second light emitting layer 746 disposed between the first light emitting layer 744 and the cathode 749 and composed of a host material and a guest material of a red light emitting material, and a carrier adjustment layer 745 disposed between the first light emitting layer 744 and the second light emitting layer 746 so as to contact therewith, containing the same kind material as at least one of the host materials of the first light emitting layer and those of the second light emitting layer, and not substantially containing materials having light emitting property.
