PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for emergency operation of an elevator capable of suppressing an amount of oscillation of a rope by performing emergency operation with the use of lateral oscillation of the rope obtained by a rope lateral oscillation detecting device of the elevator for estimating and calculating the lateral oscillation of the rope caused by the slow lateral oscillation of a building, and making the shift to the emergency operation before the lateral oscillation of the rope is increased. SOLUTION: This device for emergency operation of the elevator stops at the nearest floor and opens a car door when it is determined that the lateral oscillation amount of the rope exceeds a first set value, and then, the elevator is moving after the occurrence of an earthquake.
