<p>Provided is an exhaust gas purifying device wherein, first, a strength such as a mechanical strength or a heat-resistant strength is excellent; second, the cost such as a material cost or a production cost is excellent; third, the exhaust gas purifying performance is improved; and fourth, the sound deadening performance is improved. The exhaust gas purifying device (4) eliminates or reduces harmful substances (2) contained in an exhaust gas (1) of an engine of an automobile such as a motorcycle. Further, the exhaust gas purifying device (4) is provided with a catalyst carrier (6) having a wire-mesh structure, and the catalyst carrier (6) is cylindrical. An oxidation catalyst (7) is adhered to the catalyst carrier (6), to cover the catalyst carrier (6). The catalyst carrier (6) is incorporated in a muffler (5) together with a silencer structure (8). Further, the catalyst carrier (6) penetrates a partition wall (9) within the muffler (5), and is held by the partition wall (9). The catalyst carrier (6) is formed in the form of a cylinder, and one end of the cylinder is closed and the other end is open. The catalyst carrier (6) is obtained by winding a band-like continuous mesh material of each layer (11) so as to define an inner space (13). The exhaust gas (1) passes from the inside to the outside of the catalyst carrier (6), or passes from the outside to the inside of the catalyst carrier (6).</p> |
