<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent temperature of a fixing device from getting higher, and to improve image quality. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an exposure device that forms a latent image on a surface of an image carrier; a developing member that develops the latent image and forms a developer image on the surface of the image carrier; a transfer member that transfers the developer image to a medium; the fixing device that fixes the developer image transferred to the medium; a temperature detection unit that detects the temperature of the fixing device; and a process speed change processing means that changes process speed based on the temperature detected by the temperature detection unit. The temperature of the fixing device is detected and the process speed is changed based on the detected temperature, thereby the temperature of the fixing device can be prevented from getting higher than a threshold limit value, for example, even when performing continuous printing on continuous paper that is small in width.
