PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the entire impact tool compact by considerably reducing an anvil. SOLUTION: In an impact driver 1, an insertion hole 28 of a bit 27 disposed in the anvil 9 is extended through to communicate with a bearing hole 25 into which a small diameter portion 26 of the spindle 7 fits. A receiving recessed portion 29, against which the rear end of the bit 27 inserted into the insertion hole 28 is abutted for receiving the bit 27 in an axial direction, is formed at the front end of the small diameter portion 26 of the spindle 7.
