<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply a backlight unit having a structure capable of attaching or detaching an LED-mounted substrate, wherein the distance between a light-receiving surface of a light guide plate and the LED-mounted substrate is accurately improved even if the light guide plate is moved. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight unit 10 includes: the LED-mounted substrate 15 having an LED 20 serving as a light source; a light guide plate 12 having a light-receiving surface where the LED 20 is arranged in opposition and on which the light of the LED 20 is incident, and having an emission surface from which the incident light is emitted; and a frame holding the light guide plate 12.
