PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that displays a clear preview image for a user on a display apparatus.

SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 102 includes a set value acquisition unit 19 which acquires a set value for adjusting the overall brightness of the display screen of an image display apparatus 104, a picture quality adjustment unit 11 which performs saturation adjustment processing for adjusting the saturation of an image, and a spatial filter unit 15 which performs emphasis processing for sharpening the preview image. The picture quality adjustment unit 11 changes content of the saturation adjustment processing in accordance with brightness indicated by the set value. The spatial filter unit 15 performs the emphasis processing such that the preview image is sharper when the brightness indicated by the set value does not correspond to standard brightness than when the brightness indicated by the set value corresponds to the standard brightness. Therefore, the clear preview image is displayed on the display apparatus.
