Absorption of gases in a sealed alkaline accumulator is obtained by providing two bodies of sintered nickel powder connected electrically to the active materials of the positive and negative electrodes respectively, the electrolyte being absorbed in the sintered bodies and in the active materials and separator between the electrodes, a part of the sintered bodies being exposed to the gas space. The sintered nickel bodies may constitute the carriers of the active materials and they may be. connected to other sintered nickel bodies which do not carry active material and which are exposed to the gas space. |
