PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image capturing apparatus capable of capturing an image, in which geometrical distortion in look is reduced, when a subject, that moves to a lens optical axis direction, is imaged in different exposure timings corresponding to positions in an imaging plane. SOLUTION: The image capturing apparatus includes: an XY address scanning type image sensor 11 in which such an exposure phase difference time is generated that an exposure timing becomes different in accordance with a position inside an imaging plane; a lens 1 for forming a subject image on the imaging plane of the image sensor 11; an image plane detection unit 22 for detecting an image plane moving amount during the exposure phase difference time at an image plane position of the image of the subject moving to an optical axis direction of the lens 1; and a geometrical distortion correction processing unit 35 for correcting geometrical distortion, that is generated in the subject image by a magnification change with the movement of the subject to the optical axis direction, by performing image processing based on the image plane moving amount.
