发明名称 Improvements in and relating to hobbing machines
摘要 535,596. Gear-cutting. CLEVELAND HOBBING MACHINE CO. May 6, 1940, No. 8133. Convention date, May 5, 1939. [Class 83 (iii)] A gear-hobbing machine has work and tool spindles driven in timed relation, one of the spindles being supported in a slide which has a depth feed normal to the work axis dmparted by toggle mechanism actuated by a cam acting on the knuckle of the toggle. The hob spindle 10 carrying the hob H is mounted in a head C slidable to and from the work on horizontal guides. The work W is driven from a spindle 11 and supported by an upper tail stock 16. A motor 17 mounted within the base is connected by belt gearing 19 to a shaft 18 connected through a vertical shaft 26, shaft 31, change gears 32 and worm gearing 34 to the work spindle. The shaft 18 is also connected through a shaft 45 and gearing 47 to the hob spindle, which with its housing 40 is angularly adjustable about the axis of the shaft 18. The hob head is fed towards the work by toggle mechanism comprising links 50, 51 and 52, 53, Fig. 6, connected by a knuckle pin 54 which carries a roller 72. The knuckle is urged upwards to withdraw the hob head by a spring 65. The feed towards the work is produced by a cam 70 driven from the shaft 18 by gearing which includes a vertical, shaft 76 and change gears 77. The shaft 71 of the cam carries a disc 81 fitted with a pin 82 which alternately actuates limit switches 83, 84 in the control circuit, Fig. 7. At the start of a cycle switch 84 is held open by pin 82 and the operator starts the machine by pressing push button 86, completing a circuit from line L3 through switches 89, 86, 83 solenoid 93 of relay 94 to line L1. The closing of contacts 96, 97 of the relay completes a circuit through solenoid 99 contacts 96, 97 and switches 86, 89 thus closing the contacts 103 ... 106 and starting the motor 17. The contacts 103 establish holding-in circuits for solenoids 93, 99 after release of the start button 86. When the motor starts, rotation of pin 82 allows switch 84 to close thus maintaining the circuit of solenoid 99 after the opening of contacts 96, 97. Half-way through the cycle, switch 83 is opened by pin 82, de-energizing the solenoid 93 so that when the switch again starts the circuit of solenoid 93 is not established. On completion of the cycle, the pin 82 opens switch 84 and stops the motor 17 after a comolete feed and withdrawal movement of the hob slide. The cycle can be repeated by pressing the start button 86 and the motor 17 can be stopped at any time by depressing stop button 89. In some cases the left hand toggle pivot 55 may be raised above the level of the right hand pivot so that straightening the toggle will also tend to hold the hob head down on its guides.
