The method for performing device management notification via a gateway device includes that: a registration message is received, and the registration message carries the identity of a terminal and the address of a gateway device (101); the identity of the terminal and the address of the gateway device are stored correlatively (102); the address of the gateway device is obtained according to the correlative record (103); a device management notification message is sent to the gateway device according to the address of the gateway device, so that the gateway device can make corresponding process according to the device management notification message (104).
