PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance detecting accuracy on the rotating frequency of a rotor, and to stably and smoothly start a motor during sensorless speed control. SOLUTION: An electric-vehicle controller includes a variable-voltage variable-frequency inverter (VVVF inverter) for converting DC to AC with an optional frequency, and a control means for detecting through estimation the rotating speed of the motor without directly detecting it, and controlling the output frequency and the output voltage of the VVVF inverter to drive the motor. Furthermore, the controller has a means for stepping down a magnetic flux current command via secondary-functional with reference to the elapsed time, when an exciting current command to control the motor is stepped down.
